Pod-O-Ween 2024 Announcement!
Oct. 1st, 2024 10:57 pmPod_O_Ween is an informal podfic event for the Spooky Season! Crafted out of a true love of this hallowed season (and podfic!), we are so thankful for the support we've had in growing this small but scary challenge! This is our seventh annual Pod_O_Ween event, and we'd like to thank you all for your love and support in making this event possible! Pod_O_Ween is an event that prides itself on being completely stress free, and so we have NO SIGN UPS, NO RESPONSIBILITIES, NO PRESSURE. All you have to do is have fun, so let's turn up the juice and see what shakes loose!
GET T-T-T-T-TRICKY?
Working off of some of the innovations we made last year, we've decided to go back to basics! Pod_O_Ween this year is made up of 13 simple prompts that we call our TRICKS. Whlie there are no bonus tricks that will be revealed, we've given you a lucky number to work with.
These prompts are there to help get you inspired to make some podfic! If you are inspired by one of our prompts, please feel free to fill the prompt in whatever way takes your fancy. As always, the mods would like to mention that these prompts DO NOT need to be taken individually, and can be combined with others if you choose to do so! We'd also love to see discussion on these prompts for how they could be interpreted: stay tuned on our twitter for some examples and brainstorming.
This is an INFORMAL event. There is no obligation to fill prompts, as this is purely for the fun of the season! As such, other than our collection deadline - there are no deadlines or check-ins! We also understand that this is a rather short notice event, so please take your time and do not stress! If you would like to fill something, but are not sure what to do, we are happy to assist you in finding a fic that is right for you to the best of our ability! Please do not hesitate to message us!
Feel free to post your fic to Dreamwidth as well as Ao3, but we will also provide a masterlist post of all podfics here on dreamwidth, with weekly reveals being posted on our twitter.

However, if you would like to fill all of our prompts (we've got our eyes on you~), then consider it a challenge! Please feel free to retweet or share our prompts, anyone is welcome to get involved.
TREAT YOSELF:
Ah yes, treat time! For treats, any person can make a request for something they would like to see in our Pod_O_Ween Collection for 2024. Please post your treat requests HERE! You can ask for anything in your treat, be it a specific fic, a trope, a fandom, the featuring of a concept, object or being, even the inclusion of specific characters. For those of you who want a bit of an extra challenge, try to combine the requests in these treats into what you're recording for our tricks! But do not fear, you can still just fill a spoopy podfic for a treat if you want without touching our main prompts. In addition, outside of the standard treat format please know that these podfics can also be gifts to others just because! This is your podfic, we're just listening to it!
There are so many ways to play, and we're happy for you to mix and match and fill as much as you'd like to! It's your candy, and you can put it where you want to! The most important guideline is to have fun! Make sure that you enjoy what you record.
All filled prompts must be uploaded to the Pod_O_Ween 2024 Collection (HERE!) by midnight on 30th of October Mountain Daylight Time (USA GMT-6). Posted works will be revealed each Thursday (starting on Thursday the 10th), throughout the month of October, with the final reveal on the 31st of October in the evening. Spend the whole month getting into the mood of the season by listening as podfics are revealed each week!!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
All podfic are accepted, but please also adhere to your appropriate tagging and/or warning specifics as much as you can. Feel free to run with prompts, but if you are unsure in any way about your chosen fill, our golden rule is ASK ASK ASK!
There is no set word count, minimum or maximum. Anything that you can achieve in the time would be Spooktacular, and we'd all love to hear it!
Again, please post your treat requests/challenges on this post HERE! We've included a handy template for those who need some guidance.
We are accepting of all types of podfic, including not!fic, multi-voice podfic, experimental and alternate podfic, as well as the traditional type. We don't want to limit you: if you're inspired, go for your lives!

Cover art is NOT MANDATORY, however if you would like to provide cover art, please go ahead! We at Pod_O_Ween are happy to assist in any way with cover art as well, and will put up a request thread closer to the release date. Treats are requests for things YOU would like to see in our Pod_O_Ween 2021 Collection. Here's a quick posting template to help you on your way, with the questions being in italics:

Pod_O_Ween 2021 Announcement!

Pod_O_Ween is an informal podfic event for the Spooky Season! Crafted out of a true love of this hallowed season (and podfic!), we are so thankful for the support we've had in growing this small but scary challenge! This is our fourth annual Pod_O_Ween event, and thanks to all of all you lovelies, we think we've got the pattern down now! Pod_O_Ween is an event that prides itself on being completely stress free, and so we have NO SIGN UPS, NO RESPONSIBILITIES, NO PRESSURE. All you have to do is have fun, so let's turn up the juice and see what shakes loose!
GET T-T-T-T-TRICKY?
Last year we fine-tuned our prompt system, and we're keeping to the same tune this year! Pod_O_Ween is made up of 9 simple prompts that we call our TRICKS. These prompts are there to help get you inspired to make some podfic! If you are inspired by one of our prompts, please feel free to fill the prompt in whatever way takes your fancy. As always, the mods would like to mention that these prompts DO NOT need to be taken individually, and can be combined with others if you choose to do so! We'd also love to see discussion on these prompts for how they could be interpreted: stay tuned on our twitter for some examples and brainstorming.
Due to the absolute madness that is this year, things are a tiny bit later than anticipated - but we made it just in time! Official 2021 prompt list is alive and kicking - (tricks list found HERE!) both here on dreamwidth and on our twitter, and you can fill the prompts at any time from the beginning of October! By no means are you obligated to fill all of these prompts! Please take our ghoulish little game at your own pace! However, if you would like to fill all of our prompts (we've got our eyes on you~), then consider it a challenge!
TREAT YOSELF:
Ah yes, treat time! After last year's success, we're holding the line. For treats, any person can make a request for something they would like to see in our Pod_O_Ween Collection for 2021. Please post your treat requests HERE! You can ask for anything in your treat, be it a specific fic, a trope, a fandom, the featuring of a concept, object or being, even the inclusion of specific characters. For those of you who want a bit of an extra challenge, try to combine the requests in these treats into what you're recording for our tricks! But do not fear, you can still just fill a spoopy podfic for a treat if you want without touching our main prompts.
There are so many ways to play, and we're happy for you to mix and match and fill as much as you'd like to! It's your candy, and you can put it where you want to!
The most important guideline is to have fun! Make sure that you enjoy what you record.
- All filled prompts must be uploaded to the Pod_O_Ween 2021 Collection by the 30th of October, to be revealed at the very last stroke of Halloween, on the 31st.
- All podfic are accepted, but please also adhere to your appropriate tagging and/or warning specifics as much as you can. Feel free to run with prompts, but if you are unsure in any way about your chosen fill, our golden rule is ASK ASK ASK!
- There is no set word count, minimum or maximum. Anything that you can achieve in the time would be Spooktacular, and we'd all love to hear it!
- You may fill as many prompts, and make as treat requests, as you would like!

- We are accepting of all types of podfic, including not!fic, multi-voice podfic, experimental and alternate podfic, as well as the traditional type. We don't want to limit you: if you're inspired, go for your lives!

We at Pod_O_Ween are happy to assist in any way with cover art as well, and will put up a request thread closer to the release date. Pod_O_Ween is an informal podfic event for the Spooky Season! Crafted out of a true love of this hallowed season (and podfic!), we hope that this event will continue to grow in the years to come. For our second annual Pod_O_Ween, we've taken a look-see at last year's run, and have made a few changes! We hope that it will be just as fun as last year, while taking a bit more of the burden off of you, our pumpkins! Pod_O_Ween is an event that prides itself on being completely stress free, and so we have NO SIGN UPS, NO RESPONSIBILITIES, NO PRESSURE. A Halloween Event for 2018!

Pod_O_Ween is an informal podfic event for the Spooky Season! Crafted out of a true love of this hallowed season (and podfic!), we hope that this event will grow in the years to come. It's a simple game of Trick or Treat!
TRICK OR TREAT?
Make a request for a Halloween themed podfic! Each request must contain two options: Trick or Treat, which the person filling the prompt will choose from!
- The content of your request is up to you! You could choose between two beloved tropes, fandoms, characters, tags, or anything of the sort, so long as you know you're going to be getting something spooky!
- You can be as detailed or as vague as you'd like in your request, but make sure it's something that you'd love to see in our Pod_O_Ween 2018 Collection, on Ao3!
- Once a request has been made, any number of people can choose to fill that prompt! If you have a fic in mind, or you simply love a good challenge, go for it!
- All filled prompts must be uploaded to the Pod_O_Ween 2018 Collection by the 30th of October, to be revealed at the very last stroke of Halloween, on the 31st.
